Musical Festival “The Sounds of Music

P1 - Good afternoon, everybody.

P2 - Good afternoon, dear friends.

P1 - Welcome to our musical festival “The Sounds of Music”

P2 - Today we are going to present you some of the most popular English and
       American songs.

P1 - Let’s listen to a very popular American song about a little car. Children love
        to sing it.

P2 - I like this song too. So, imagine that you are in a little car but it’s an unusual
car because it can sing and dance.

P1 - OK. It’s really interesting.

P2  - Are you ready? Let’s go.

( song “A Little Car”)

P1 - Have you ever seen a cartoon about a Lion cub and a Turtle?

P2 - Of course. It’s my favourite cartoon "How the Baby Lion and the Turtle sang
a song". The cartoon is about a baby lion who saw a big turtle…

P1 - Children, do you remember? The turtle lies in the sun and sings a song. The
Baby Lion likes it so much, that he wants to sing with the Turtle. But he can't
sing about himself because he is very active and can't lie down.

P2 - It’s true. They finally work out something, sing the song and become friends.

P1 – Children know this song and they are going to sing it for you.

( song “I Lie in the Sun”)

P2 - What do you do when you're happy?

P1 - Everything. Sing, dance, jump, run, smile, laugh…

P2 - Good. Do you know the song "If You're Happy and You Know It"?

P1 - Yes, it is a popular repetitive children's song, stemming from an old Latvian
        folk song.

P2  - I’d like to listen it again.

P1  - Let’s listen to this children's action song together. But you have a good
chance to sing along and do the actions too!

( song “If You Are Happy and You Know it”)

P2 - Believe it or not Jingle Bells, one of the most famous American Christmas
songs, was originally written for Thanksgiving!

P1 - The author and composer of Jingle Bells was a minister called James Pierpoint
who composed the song in 1857 for children celebrating his Boston Sunday
        School Thanksgiving.

P2 - The song was so popular that it was repeated at Christmas.

P1 - The sound effects using the bells have become synonymous with the arrival of
Father Christmas or Santa Claus to the delight of children of all ages!

P2 - We have heard children singing it wonderfully. Let’s sing “Jingle Bells” with
        them together.
( song “Jingle Bells”)

P1 - Everybody knows the poem “Good Morning to You”. But do you know that it
        is a song?

P2. - Of course. It was written by the Hill’s sisters.

P1 - The lyric to the song was originally written as a classroom song entitled
“Good Morning to All" by Mildred’s sister Patty.

P2 – Really? We asked the children to sing it.

(song “Good Morning to You”)

P1 - What is your favourite holiday?
P2 - It’s my birthday. I’m always given wonderful presents. Everybody greets me
        and sings "Happy Birthday"

P1 - By the way, do you know that "Happy Birthday" is a song which is
traditionally sung to celebrate the anniversary of a person's birth?

P2 - Sure, according to the Guinness Book of World Records, "Happy Birthday to
You" is the most recognized song in the English language. It has been
translated into at least 18 languages.

P1 - That's incredible. The melody of "Happy Birthday to You" comes from the
song "Good Morning  to All", which was written and composed by American
siblings Patty Hill and  Mildred J. Hill in 1893.

P2 - You are right. Yesterday I saw how children congratulated their classmate and
sang the song “Happy Birthday”. It was fantastic!

(song “Happy Birthday to You.”)

P1 - Hokey Cokey, Okey Cokey, Hokey Pokey, Hokey Tokey, Cokey Cokey…

P2 - What does it mean?

P1 - It’s a beautiful song.  “Hockey Cockey” is well known in English-speaking
countries. It is a participation dance with a distinctive accompanying tune and
       lyric structure.

P2 - I know. Participants stand in the shape of a big ring formation during the
dance. The dance follows the instructions given in the lyrics of the song.

P1 - Children, be attentive! Specific body parts are named, and these are then
sequentially put into the ring, taken out of the ring, and finally wiggled around
        maniacally inside the ring.

P2 - After this is done one raises one's hands up to the side of the head, wiggles
them, and turns around in place until the next sequence begins, with a new
        named body part.

P1 - A sample instruction set would be:
You put your left hand in
You put your left hand out
You put your left hand in
And you shake it all about.
You do the Hokey Pokey and you turn yourself around

P2 - What can children do when say they do the Hokey Cokey?

P1 - Hands together in front of body, fingers interlocked, elbows raised. Rock arms
side to side in time to the music as if cradling a baby. - that's what it's all
        about!

P2 - As the rule, our children do the Hokey Cokey in a circle with their friends.
        Can you join in?

P1 - With pleasure. Let’s do it together.

( song “Hockey Cockey”)

P2 – Do you like this pleasant melody?

P1 - Of course. "My Bonnie Lies over the Ocean" is a traditional Scottish folk
song. It may have its origin in the history of Charles Edward Stuart,
commonly known as Bonnie Prince Charlie, the grandson of the deposed
        Stuart monarch James II.

P2 - Many Highland Scots supported Bonnie Prince Charlie's attempt to restore the
Stuarts to the English throne in 1745-46 by invading Scotland and England.

P1 - The song was famously arranged and recorded by Tony Sheridan with musical
backing by The Beatles. It has numerous parody versions.

(song “My Bonny Is Over the Ocean “)

P2 - Have you ever been to the farm?

P1 - I’ve never been there. But I’d like to visit it because I adore animals. They are
        so funny.

P2 - Today you have an opportunity to visit such a farm and listen to a popular
English song "Old MacDonald Had a Farm".

P1 - It’s good. I know it is a nursery rhyme and an interesting song about a farmer
named McDonald and the various animals he keeps on his farm.

(song "Old MacDonald Had a Farm")

P1. - I think music is a voice for the thoughts and feelings. We can understand
         better our inner world.

P2  - For some of people it’s a harmless way to relax, forget about their tiredness
and have fun. A lot of people prefer music among all arts because it speaks a
universal language and makes the world brighter.

P1 - Ladies and Gentlemen! Dear boys and girls!
Let’s live with love in our hearts, sing wonderful songs and be always happy.

Jingle Bells

Dashing through the snow,
                  in a one-horse open sleigh,
Over the fields we go,
                  laughing all the way.
Bells on bob-tails ring,
                  making spirits bright,
What fun it is to ride
and sing a sleighing song tonight.

Chorus
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
                          jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
                          in a one-horse open sleigh.
Jingle bells, jingle bells,
                          jingle all the way!
O what fun it is to ride
                          in a one-horse open sleigh.

A day or two ago, I thought I'd take a ride
And soon Miss Fanny Bright,
                             was seated by my side;
The horse was lean and lank,
                           misfortune seemed his lot;
He got into a drifted bank and we got upsot

Chorus:

A day or two ago, the story I must tell
I went out on the snow,
                          and on my back I fell;
A gent was riding by,
                          in a one-horse open sleigh
He laughed as there I sprawling
                          lie but quickly drove away

Chorus:

Now the ground is white,
                          go it while you're young
Take the girls tonight,
                and sing this sleighing song;
Just get a bob-tailed bay,
                 two-forty as his speed
Hitch him to an open sleigh
and crack, you'll take the lead

Chorus:

Hockey Cockey

You put your right foot in,
You put your right foot out,
You put your right foot in
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your left foot in,
You put your left foot out,
You put your left foot in,
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your right hand in,
You put your right hand out,
You put your right hand in
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your left hand in,
You put your left hand out,
You put your left hand in,
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your right shoulder in,
You put your right shoulder out,
You put your right shoulder in,
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your left shoulder in,
You put your left shoulder out,
You put your left shoulder in,
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your right hip in,
You put your right hip out,
You put your right hip in
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your left hip in,
You put your left hip out,
You put your left hip in,
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.

You put your whole self in,
You put your whole self out,
You put your whole self in
And you shake it all about.
 You do the Hokey Pokey
 And you turn yourself around,
 That's what it's all about.
